Material Processing
Materials processing falls into two basic categories:
Forming Processes
Machining or Wasting Processes

Forming Processes take raw or stock materials and turn them into a finished component. With a few exceptions, these processes involve complex machinery and are only economical for large quantity production.

Wasting processes involve taking stock materials, then cutting and machining them. They are known as wasting techniques because, as the name suggests, waste is generated as the materials are cut or machined.
