Wood Joints

There are many ways of joining pieces of material together, but they can be divided into those that are permanent (once joined they cannot be taken apart) and those that are temporary (joints that can be assembled and taken apart again).

The process of assembling a product from a number of component parts is known as fabrication. Examples of fabrication methods include:

Wood joints
Screws
Nails
Rivets
Welding
Brazing
Soldering
Gluing

Most of these techniques can be safely performed in school. In this section you can investigate ways of joining wood, metal and plastics using some of these techniques.
